For 16 years, the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce has been awarding annual performance and technology scholarships to students at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences with a total value of € 75,000. This year, around 70 students will once again benefit from this financial recognition.

This year, a total of 45 engineering students will be supported with €1,000 each, while 26 students will receive merit scholarships for stays abroad of between €500 and €2,400. While stays in Europe are supported by the Erasmus program, stays outside of Europe often have to be financed entirely by the students themselves. This is where the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce comes in.
“With our scholarships, we want to enable students to gain experience and know-how in other countries and build up an international network. This not only promotes the students' personal development, but also benefits the local economy in the medium and long term,” explains WKS Director Manfred Pammer.
Support for talented engineers
In addition to the scholarships abroad, in 2025 there were again 45 technology scholarships of € 1,000 each for students in the field of technology who have distinguished themselves through special achievements in their studies. FH Rector and Managing Director Dominik Engel adds: “As a university, we attach great importance to providing special support to committed students. The scholarships from the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce not only support the commitment of our students, but also strengthen their international prospects. We want our students to gain new perspectives and expand their intercultural skills by gaining experience abroad. Supporting our technology students is also a clear sign that we want to strengthen development and potential in the technical field and accompany our students on their path to excellence and innovation.”
Students honored in the field of technology and internationality
Representing the 45 students who received a technology scholarship, Marc Toiflhart from the Information Technology & System Management course explains: “I've been passionate about IT since I was a child - that's why studying here was the logical choice for me. I particularly appreciate the practical training at the UAS and the opportunity to apply my knowledge directly at Liebherr via the study-work-support model. I am investing part of my scholarship in a new laptop to support me in my studies and projects.” His fellow student Andreas Raab, who was also awarded the technology scholarship, adds: “I already work for an IT service provider, but the course is an important addition to my professional future - especially in the field of networks and cyber security. I am delighted to have been awarded the WK Performance Scholarship for this - I will of course invest the prize back into my education.”
Viktoria Reichl is studying Innovation and Management in Tourism at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. She was able to use the merit scholarship for a financially carefree stay abroad in Australia. “My stay abroad in Newcastle, Australia, has been an incredibly enriching experience so far. I have the opportunity to further deepen my studies in the field of innovation and management in tourism and gain exciting insights into the approaches used there”
